Cette thématique aborde l’évolution des modes de communication dans notre société (de traditionnels à technologiques), ainsi que leur impact sur notre structure politique. La démocratie procède de nos échanges au sein de la sphère politique. En conséquence, comment la transformation technologique en matière de communication affecte-t-elle noos moyens de création, d’emmagasinage et de dissémination du savoir collectif?
Ce sujet à des répercussions pour tous les citoyens et toutes les collectivités du Canada, tour particulièrement pour les populations du Québec et de Terre-Neuve, souvent considérées comme des sociétés marginalisées dans un vaste bassin culturel et politique.Les artistes et les universitaires participant à cette édition de la Petite enveloppe urbaine adoptent le point de vue de gens ordinaires aux prises avec un processus de changements sociaux rapides.
The intention of this theme is to examine the evolving modes of communication in our society (from traditional to technological) and the impact this has had on our political structure. Democracy relies on exchange within a public sphere. In light of this, how is the change in communications technology affecting our systems of creating, storing and disseminating public knowledge?
This theme is of consequence to all individuals and communities accross Canada, but is particularly pertinent to populations such as those in Québec and Newfoundland often regarded as marginalized societies within a larger cultural and poilitical landscape.The contribuing artists and academics in this issue of the Petite enveloppe urbaine comment from the perspective of ordinary people caught up in a process of rapid social change.
